People have become too dependent on technology

No doubt that modern technologies have a great impact on our life. Some people are concerned we have become the slaves of smartphones, laptops etc. However, others believe we can still easily do without such devices.

In my opinion, nowadays people are very dependent on gadgets. First of all, technologies make communication fast and easy. For example, some people benefit greatly from using apps like Skype and Viber because they use them to contact with their relatives and friends who live abroad.

Furthermore, the Internet can provide us with emotional support and raise one’s self-esteem. For instance, some people become addicted to social nets because they use them as a way of self-realization, posting content and counting “likes” they got.

On the other hand, there are people who are convinced that high technologies are not the most necessary part of human life. They believe face-to-face communication is much more natural for people than using modern devices.

I am afraid I cannot completely agree with this statement. In my view, modern ways of communication are hugely important in our life because they increase the number of friends and acquaintances one can have and help to catalogue one’s relationships.

To sum up, I believe that our dependence on technology is a normal part of historical progress. However, we should be able to deal with it to continue our development.
