Teenagers should be allowed to read whatever books they like

Nowadays education is very important and each person wants to be smart. Books are food for the brain and the source of knowledge. Some people claim that teenagers need to read any books as they like. But others do not agree.

I strongly believe that parents should not limit teenagers’ right to choose books on their own books to read because they are not children. Firstly, teenagers are almost adults and have more capacities including book preferences. The young generation is able to decide on books themselves. Secondly, if parents or teachers force to read only allowed literature, the young will feel oppressed and upset because they are confined. Thirdly, reading books of a different genre can help to develop imagination.

However, some people think that some books should be avoided by teenagers.

They mention that a plot may consist of violence, cruel and aggressive behavior which can affect mental health. Also, such kind of books may not be appropriate for the young generation and they will not be able to understand the idea and concept of a book.

Nevertheless, I can not agree with the above mention opinion. To my mind, the classic literature has violent scenes too, but despite this, it is included in the school curriculum. Moreover, reading any books teaches to analyze and can help to express a point of view.

To sum up, I would like to say that parents should not protect their children from real life and they need to allow to read any books they like because a book can help when adolescent face difficulties of life and solve their problems themselves.
