Playing computer games are often considered as a worthless activity but, at the same time, it can be a useful experience. Let me weigh up the two alternatives.

If you ask me, I would say that videogames are quite beneficial for modern people. First of all, contemporary games are very elaborate. Most of them have a complicated and detailed plot. Therefore they can entertain you the same way as a good book or film do. Furthermore, sometimes they even can help you with your academic studies. And it is been scientifically proved that learning through games is an excellent way to acquire new information. And last but not least this hobby may have practical and realistic applications. This hobby can bring decent money.

There is also a negative side. It is well known that excessive playing of video games is harmful. Many diseases and illnesses can be caused by that, to say nothing about addiction or insomnia. All of these could be avoided by spending more time outdoors or doing physical exercises.

However, if you are a moderate player, you have nothing to worry about. To argue with the ideas in the previous paragraph, I would like to say that computer technologies now are good enough to protect people’s eyesight, hearing or posture. To generalise, I would conclude by saying that a computer is an inevitable part of our lives now so as video games. And if you are a careful person, there are more positives in playing them. I would rather speak in favor of playing.
