Individual schedule at school

Nowadays there are different types of high-school education. Some of schools offer students their own individual program. Some people think that it is beneficial for students to have their own curriculum, while others claim that if high-school students choose subjects themselves, it will affect their level of general knowledge. So is it useful for students to study not all the subjects at high school?

As far as I am concerned, individual plan of studying is advantageous for both: student’s exam results and psychological condition. Firstly, thanks to students’ curricular, they are given a chance to focus on the subjects they will need for exams and at the university. For example, if a person wants to become a doctor, he does not need to study Literature in details, he should study more carefully Mathematics. Secondly, if a student has less subjects to study at school, he has more free time.

Talking about the last school year, which is very stressful because of the final exams, a student needs to relax more, not to be under the pressure.

Nevertheless, other people are against personal plan of studying because of its narrowness in knowledge. It is said that students might forget all the information they have learnt during previous years. To be an advanced high-school student, a person should learn all the subjects, even if he does not know them in details.

Despite this argument, I still believe that curricular is very advantageous for high-school students. Not to forget the information from the middle school, young people might revise it on their own if they need it.

All things considered, although with the individual schedule there is a risk of loosing useful knowledge from previous school years, I strongly believe that students benefit from this type of education. They are not stressful all the time because they have leisure time and they prepare for the exams more properly with the selective choice of subjects.
